Answers
- Who Qualifies to be a Registered Massage
Therapist?
Education and examination of a Registered Massage Therapist
is regulated by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario.
A Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) is licensed under the
Regulated Health Professionals Act (RHPA) which also licenses
physicians, nurses, dentists and chiropractors.
- Who Pays for Your Massage Therapy Treatment?
Massage Therapy is not covered under OHIP. Many Private

referral). University students have partial coverage for
treatment under their Student Health Plan. Persons injured
in a motor vehicle accident (MVA) are fully covered for
treatment under their automobile insurance when it is recommended
by a physician. Veterans also have coverage through the
Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA).
